RIOT ANNOUNCE HEAD COACH VACANCY + GENERAL MANAGER EXTENSION

July 30, 2018/0 Comments/in Uncategorized/by reginariot

The Regina Riot made two important announcements in the last week via their social media accounts.

GENERAL MANAGER EXTENSION

The Riot will be extending current General Manager Alicia Dorwart for a third one-year term in the position. Alicia first took on General Manager duties prior to the 2017 season. Before that Alicia had been both a player and volunteer support staff member with the team.

“I am extremely honoured and proud to continue to help grow this organization and women’s football in Canada,” said Dorwart in regards to her return. “I am very fortunate to have such a hard working and talented staff to work with and look forward to seeing what 2019 brings.”

“We’re very excited to be bringing back Alicia for another year as General Manager,” said Team President Clarke Westby. “Alicia has done a fantastic job for us the past two years as we’ve won back-to-back championships. The continuity that she brings to the management of the team is crucial to our success.”

HEAD COACH VACANCY

The second announcement was that Olivier Eddie would be stepping down from his position as Head Coach. Olivier originally joined the Riot coaching staff as an assistant in 2014. He took over the role of Head Coach when Shawn McCall stepped down from the position prior to the 2017 season. Eddie would go on to lead the team to a championship that year, and would repeat the accomplishment again in 2018. Eddie will be taking a role on the Regina Thunder coaching staff.

“It’s difficult losing a great coach like Olivier,” said Clarke Westby. “He brought a passion and work ethic that will be difficult to replicate. We want to thank him for all the countless hours that he has dedicated to this organization over the years, and we wish him nothing but the best in his future coaching endeavours.”

The Regina Riot posted a job description for the position of Head Coach earlier this morning. You can read it here. They are looking for a coach with at least 5 years of coaching experience at the high school level.

If you are interested in applying for the position, please e-mail a resume & cover letter to reginariotfootball@gmail.com. Applications are open until August 7th, 2018.
