​​Job Title: Head Coach – Regina Riot Football Team

Reports To: Riot Board of Directors

Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Coach to lead the Riot to success both on and off the field. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with a deep understanding of the game, proven experience in coaching, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive team environment. As the Head Coach, you will be responsible for developing and implementing game strategies, managing player development, and working closely with the athletic department to ensure the overall success of the football program.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Management and Coaching:
    • Develop and implement effective game strategies and training programs to enhance team performance.
    • The Head Coach will oversee the selection of the assistant coaches with the consultation of the Board of Directors.
    • Lead and conduct practice sessions, ensuring players are well-prepared for games.
    • Analyze game footage and performance metrics to make data-driven decisions and adjustments.
  2. Player Development:
    • Mentor and develop players fostering a positive team culture.
    • Assess and improve individual player skills through personalized coaching and feedback.
    • Manage player injuries and work with medical staff to ensure player health and recovery.
  3. Game Preparation and Execution:
    • Prepare detailed game plans and strategies based on opponents’ strengths and weaknesses.
    • Make real-time decisions during games to adjust strategies and maximize team performance.
    • Collaborate with assistant coaches and support staff to ensure seamless game-day operations.
  4. Recruitment and Scouting:
    • Oversee the recruitment process for new talent, including scouting, evaluating, and selecting potential players.
    • Build and maintain relationships with other coaches, recruiters, and scouting agencies.
  5. Administrative Duties:
    • Coordinate with the Board of Directors to manage scheduling, budgeting, and other administrative tasks.
    • Ensure compliance with league regulations, and team policies. 
    • Represent the football program at media events, community engagements, and booster meetings.
  6. Team Building and Culture:
    • Promote a strong work ethic, discipline, and teamwork among players and coaching staff.
    • Create a supportive and inclusive environment that values diversity and respects individual contributions.
    • Address and resolve conflicts within the team promptly and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a head coach or assistant coach.
  • Extensive knowledge of football strategies, techniques, and game rules.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated success in player development and team management.
  • Valid coaching certification and/or license as required by the team and WWCFL.
